as you like it #2

LRJ #2

Celia, the niece of Duke Senior, is in the Forest of Arden, disguised as Aliena following Rosalind with Touchstone. Before meeting the sheppards, Corin and Silvius, the trio walks upon Silvius projecting his love of Pheobe. Celia at this point of the play is just getting used to her disguise for she and Rosalind have only been in the forest for about a night, So they keep hidden till Silvius leaves.
The importance of meeting Corin was that Corin happened to be Celia, Rosalind and Touchstones first encounter within the forest of Arden. This set the mood of the forest because, it showed the peace and kindness that befell the people who walk into the forest. This is also important because it was Corin who pointed Rosalind and Celia to a cottage they could buy. Thus the girls having a place to stay.
Celia, in act two, wants to rest from all the traveling the group has done over the night. Celia also wants to find a place to eat. This is shown when she speaks to Corin, asking where there is a place fir her to get food and drink for their gold. The overall goal in the act is to have a place to stay within the forest where the cousins will now be staying after their banishment from the court. Celia plays the role of a weary traveling maiden to gain pity from those in the forest so that she may gain shelter and food.
The Relationship between Rosalind and Celia within this act is the same as it has been before. They both are very close and almost like sisters, except now they are in the role of siblings. The relationship between her and touchstone are pretty much the same too, they seem to grow closer as they travel. Between Celia and Corin though is mutual strangers for they have only met once. But, the kindness that Corin shows will help the relationship between them will shape and grow.
