LRJ #5

LRJ #5
Celia, in this act, is getting married finally to Oliver after they met in the Forest of Arden. They met while he was telling Rosalind about how Orlando was injured protecting him. The marriage takes in the Forest of Arden still. This helps the story as the forest is suppose to be magical, and so it is understandable that Hymen, the god of marriage shows up. He tells everyone to get married, and so they do. If the marriage took place in any other area, then Hymen would not be able to show up.
Celia wants to get married to Oliver, and so in this act, she marries him on the day of her cousins wedding. She also wants to see her best friend Rosalind through her marriage of Orlando, and hopes for the best for everyone. Celia is playing the classic supporting character in this act.
Her relationship with Oliver has grown very strong, as she is suddenly getting married to him almost without warning. She is still best friends with Rosalind and has been growing and maturing with her through the whole story. As best friends do in today’s society, she is also consequently getting married on the same day as her cousin. After the wedding, everything works out great and everyone is happy.
